At least, I think that looks like an F-5 shadow

I was thinking more F-18 myself - that looks like a jag indicating twin tails at the top of the shadow, and the Navy is still using them, right? - but I'll freely admit that my detailed knowledge of aircraft outlines is mainly confined to Macross, Transformers G1 and Galaxy Force/Cybertron, and a certain WWII classics.

As for the pony... don't recognise it if there's supposed to be a known character in pony form.

Science isn't a what, it's a how. You can study anything with SCIENCE! It's a method of observing phenomena and recording observations in a regularized way that allows you to, after poking X with a stick enough times, predict how X will twitch. If you can't get X to twitch or can't see the twitches, then either your stick or your magnifying glass are insufficiently advanced, and crying "magic" is what you do when you don't want to admit it.
