I studied him for a moment, resisting the urge to snatch those

Possible effect: Doug is able to convince his victim to make a trade/sign a contract disadvantageous to said victim.

Or he could just use it as an object lesson for Sana on how not to react to fame.

Kodocha Manga and Doug (spoilers!)

You know, having finished reading TokyoPop's Kodocha manga (haven't finished the anime because I can't find the anime. Grr. Darnit), a good point to insert Doug the Bodyguard would be just after or just before Sana's attack by Naozumi's crazed fans. It'd make sense that Rei would want more protection for Sana after that incident.

But how would that effect the rest of the series? After all, it's a big deal that Hayama goes alone to find the suicidal kid and would Doug leave Sana's...

OK...

As per recomendations I have read the first manga "Kodocha", and may watch the first anime episode or two.

On the basis of reading the manga, I am not sure that I am happy with Doug interacting with that world.

Sure, there are some funny bits (hairdos and chipmunks), but I really don't like the school society shown (reminds me a bit too much of the "fun" I had with bullies in schools, and the seeming inability of anyone to do anything about...

You know, one wonders what Doug's role is in Kodocha beyond the tough-guy bodyguard gig. I mean, it's not like Doug would be dispensing life-affirming advice or even Lucy-esque schemes or what have you, since that's Sana-chan's job (and a good job she does, too). And it's not like he's going to introduce them to the world o' magic. Or is he?

This one is so silly that I'm not seriously considering it; if I were, I'd only share it with my prereaders.

Those of you who have actually seen Kodocha will know that many of the characters are aware that they are in an anime: Sana runs into the leader of the band that does the theme song and thanks him for doing a good job, and Babbit frequently makes comments about the show being an anime, as do other characters from time...
